The defence sector of the Indian industrial group Mahindra supplies the UN with vehicles equipped with Fassi cranes de-mining systems
Rome (Italy) – The Mahindra MPV-i is a fully armored vehicle powered by a 250 hp diesel engine that can protecting its passengers from mine explosions. It also has a system for detecting IEDs up to 5 metres away from the vehicle, capable of dealing with their detonation from a height of 1.5 metres above the ground. This system works thanks to a Fassi Micro series crane designed specifically for this purpose.
IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices) are bombs made with non-conventional materials, using explosives recovered from parts of conventional devices (bullets and mines) and homemade explosives. They can sometimes be even more powerful than mines and are more often placed on dirt roads, as the devices require longer to set on asphalt surfaces.
