The two Fassi-sponsored Petronas team De Rooy IVECO drivers Ton van Genugten and Artur Ardavichus have achieved great success in the Dakar Rally 2018
Cordoba (Argentina) – The 40th edition of the internationally famed Dakar Rally drew to a close on 20th January, and resulted in great success for the two Fassi-sponsored IVECO Powerstar trucks of Petronas team De Rooy, driven by the Dutch driver Ton van Genugten (#509) and the Kazakh driver Artur Ardavichus (#508). The race started in Lima, Peru, and was comprised of 14 stages of timed distances, amounting to 8710 km in total.
Van Genugten experienced a few problems during the primary stages, but made a great recovery during the second half of the race, winning 4 stages in the truck category. He finished the final stage of the competition in 1st place, giving him a final overall ranking of 8th, with a total race time of 64:22:31.
Artur Ardavichus also had success in the race, vying for position with his teammate in the general truck rankings. Ardavichus finished Stage 14 in 7th place, which placed him at 4th place overall in the truck category, with a total race time of 61:35:59.
