Versailles (France) – On 29th April, a truck with a mid-range, rear-mounted Fassi crane made an appearance in the Orangerie of Versailles Palace, whilst handling small-medium sized tree trunks or being used as auxiliary equipment in tree-care operations, it is thought. The Palace of Versailles is a grand, royal residence of the Bourbon family of France, built in the 17th century.
It is located in the Yvelines department, less than 20 kilometres south of Paris, in the town of Versailles, which grew up around the palace. The palace’s magnificence is the result of the young Louis XIV’s will when he moved the royal court there from Paris. Versailles was thenceforth the residence of three kings of France (Louis XIV, Louis XV and Louis XVI), who resided there permanently with their courts between 6 May 1682 and 6 October 1789, when the royal family was forced to return to the capital for greater safety at the dawning of the French Revolution.
